What therapies do you offer?
I offer cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness training.
Cognitive behavioral therapy addresses the thoughts and behaviors which contribute to suffering. It specifically looks at how thinking patterns, irrational beliefs, and maladaptive behaviors can cause pain. CBT allows people to retrain their brain and choose more empowering ways to look at their lives. Research has shown that CBT can be just as effective as medication when treating mild depression and anxiety. CBT has been proven to improve our mood, decrease negative self talk, and increase motivation.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is part of a new approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. For some time researchers have wondered how to help CBT last long term. Many experts began to recognize that changing thoughts was powerful however accepting and committing to life struggles offered people something more.
Steven C. Hayes offers a quote to expand on this idea. He states, "Life is a choice. Anxiety is not a choice. Either way you go, you will have problems and pain. So your choice here is not about whether or not to have anxiety. Your choice is whether or not to live a meaningful life."
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is one of the ways I help people to see how they can handle their stress, anxiety and life pain. This can be a very helpful therapy for people who find themselves stuck.
RLT is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy created by Dr. Aldo R. Pucci, Psy.D. RLT offers people a "rational" look at how to deal with their thoughts and feelings as it empowers people to reach their goals in life.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has conducted studies which found that meditation has decreased symptoms of anxiety and chronic pain. By combining talk therapy and mindfulness training, people can improve their overall health.
